The two gave up lucrative career-both of whom have Phds in chemistry – as they embark on peace research in the early 1960s they supported their work. through their sales peace research abstracts and peace research reviews to universities, Governments and international organizations. In 1974, Newcombe himself has composed around 100,000 punch cards about peace and by 1985, has compiled the writings of 160,000 peace and nuclear war.
Newcombe published a number of books about peace. He once told The audience he was involved in the study of peace because he had long been interested in international affairs. Of Jewish origin, he came to Canada with his parents from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939.
