CALGARY-glance, seems to be building a House is just one of a family residence line 20 Avenue SW, however, while small compared to most of Calgary College, Ecole Holt Couture (EHC) founder had big dreams about where their private school sewing and design can come to an end.
Founded in 2008 by Elfriede Holtkamp, EHC’s goal is to bring back the art of haute couture, the process was founded in Paris in the mid-19th century and immortalised by names like Christian Dior and Coco Chanel in the early and mid 1900 ‘s.
“These skills have never taught officially anywhere since the 1950s. Training out of the window. Only no one who has the knowledge and skills to create custom haute couture anymore, “said Elfriede, 86, who runs the school with the help of his older brother, Hannelore and Jutta, daughter of Ponto Holtkamp.
Elfriede said he hoped to bring the Calgary University Couture, which will eventually offer an undergraduate program. Holtkamps is in talks with the Government of Alberta about becoming an accredited institution of higher education.
